What is Dubrovnik known for?
Dubrovnik, or the Pearl of the Adriatic, is best known for its spectacular seafront location on the gorgeous Dalmatian coast. The city is a favorite with tourists due to its rich history as an Old Town district, the idyllic views from the forts and medieval walls, and a maze of narrow lanes and terracotta roofs.
Dubrovnik was once a city state known as Republic of Ragusa, and it was a powerful state on Adriatic and beyond, second only to Venetian Republic until both were dissolved by Napoleon Bonaparte.
Today it is also known as a filming location of King’s Landing for the popular TV show Game of Thrones.
